Mildred Elaine Bowers Stribling, age 95, of Mitchellville, MD, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2025 at Villa Rosa Nursing Home in Mitchellville, MD. She was born March 2, 1929 in Idamay, WV, the daughter of the late Floyd and Bessie Russell Bowers.

Mildred was a graduate of Dunbar High School in Fairmont, WV. She  attended all of  her class reunions and loved seeing her classmates and spending time with her family in Fairmont.

She was retired from the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC. She loved children and found pleasure in caring for them after her retirement. She was a faithful member of the 10th Street Baptist Church in Washington, DC, where she sang in the choir for many years.

Later in life she found the love of her life, Randolph Stribling, and they were married for over 30 years until his death.

She leaves to cherish her memory one loving nephew Charles Nallen Jr. and one devoted great nephew, Mark Hilson both of Fairmont, WV; several  great-great nieces and nephews and several cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.

Mildred was blessed with a long life and will be greatly missed by her family.
