Obituary

Born February 21, 1927 in Crumpler, West Virginia to Mozelle (Scott) Moss and Gordon Moss. She was the second child and sister to Frances (Spencer) Moss, Divy Moss, Earl, Derrol James Willie, Altamae "Thaye" (Griffith) and Othalia (Price) Moss. Rosa Attended and graduated from Elkhorn High School in West Virginia.

At the age of 19 Rosa began working as a secretary. During that time is when she would meet her loving husband Robert Lee Ramey (who was 22).  They were married in Welch, West Virginia on July 15, 1946, and subsequently began to expand their family. Their union resulted in twelve children: Rocky Maynard Ramey, James Clarence Ramey, Teresa Ramey Mickle, Ronald Carl Ramey, Kenneth Leroy Ramey, Rosa Marie Blake, Robert Tyron Ramey, Sharon Denise Armstrong, Oralee Ramey, Barbara Ann Ramey, Mark Edward Ramey, and Derrol Ramey.

They family would travel to many states due to Robert Lee's military service in the United States Army Airborne Unit, the Marines and various jobs. The family would eventually settle in Yonkers New York.  Rosa received her Associate's Degree from Mercy College, located in Cross County, New York.    She also began a career working in Childcare Services with the Westchester County Department of Social Work. Robert Lee passed away on August 24, 1977, at which time she became a military widow.

Her calling to care for all children is shown even in her work and daily life. Rosa would look after the neighbor's children, the friends of her children, grandchildren and even her great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.  But be sure, Rosa would make time for watching her soap operas or "stories", her basketball games with "the Nicks", and football games with her "Carolina Panthers".  She even enjoyed college games with West Virginia University.  Always by her side watching with her was "Milo" her little Yorkie along and a good cup of coffee.

Rosa Bell Ramey was blessed to see 99 years and had an opportunity to see the many friends and family who loved her and came to wish her a Happy Birthday at the nursing home in North Carolina.  She passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 19, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Rosa leaves behind her children, 35 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.  She was proceeded in death by her husband Robert Lee Ramey, her son Rocky Ramey, daughter Teresa Mickle, son Mark Ramey; her parents Gordon and Mozelle Moss; four great-grandchildren; her siblings Divy, Earl, Derrol, James Willie, Altamae, Othalia, and her companion for over 20 years, Milo.

Rosa was a warm-hearted woman to all that knew her.  She put a lot of love into her husband, her children, family and friends. A home made of love, good cooking, and wisdom was open to all, even towards strangers.  Rosa Ramey will be truly missed by all.
